tatsuro-fusion food in Paliseul

Home

A quick look at the area and then inside the restaurant peeking through the window, and my stomach reminded me that it was the right time, and the place looked good... so there I was, in Paliseul at the Auberge de la hutte lurette.

Paliseul, is a small quiet village in the Belgian Ardennes Nestled within the valleys of the rivers Lesse and Semois, Paliseul is surrounded with magnificent forests and is host, I discovered this later on, to a number of great hotels and restaurant. You could really think that the village has dedicated is tourism attraction to the food industry. From the 1 etoile in the Michelin guide to the pizzeria, Paliseul has everything to offer for those who like me, enjoy dining

And I was even more surprised to find that on that day, the owners had decided to prepare some exotic food for a banquet they were organizing that evening, this is how I was introduced to real Sushi in a belgian Auberge in the middle of green pastures and Winding roads. What a delight, the chef had learned to prepare Japanese rice and sushi rolls from a true japanese chef who visited them last year. The rolls were the popular style stuffed with vegetable and some unusual ingredients. I will always remember the delight it was to eat a sushi roll stuffed with ripe yellow mango and slightly warm pan fried foie gras. What an amazing combination... talking about fusion food, this was one of the best discovery I made in ages. And I can tell you this is not traditional ingredient for sushi in Japan. What a clever combination.

As a gift from the trip, I have convinced the chef, Lysiane, to reveal her recipe in my blog, which is now incorporated on their website as an unusual customer testimonial.

Tatsuro Ishiyama, Tokyo

Tatsuro is an engineer who works in Tokyo. He also consults with positionfrontpage who does web design and research on search engines.

I was traveling through belgium when I found this little jewel on the side of the road to Bouillon, a cute little auberge with an attractive look. Kind of a combination of nice antiques with lots of character and also warm and modern design. A great atmosphere.. What was I doing there, 10,000 km from home (Tokyo), is simply because I have always been attracted to the medieval castles of Europe, and Belgium has a few of them that really are outstanding and have such a rich history. To cut a long story short, While I was on my way to Bouillon, it was about lunch time and I was checking my map to confirm my directions. I stopped on the side of the road to be safer and totally by chance parked my car at the entrance of the car park of this hotel restaurant.
